SCALING partners will be hosting 3 sessions at the European Robotics Forum 2020 (ERF 2020): Better innovation policies: Directing regional and European impact, which will be held in Malaga, Spain, on 03-05 March 2020.
About 1000 top European robotics experts are expected to attend the conference. ERF2020 covers all aspects and current themes related to the field of robotics. Researchers, engineers, managers, and a growing number of entrepreneurs, business people, and public funding officers from all over Europe come together to discuss technology push and market pull and how innovation in robotics and AI can be accelerated.

The aim of this interactive session is to develop a better understanding of robotics innovation policies, instruments and outcomes in the context of Europe’s various regional, cultural, societal and regulatory settings — and how novel policy instruments such as DIH or public procurement of innovation, or challenge-based innovation can help overcome or productively work with existing differences.
Scaling up testbeds and living labs: Prospects and challenges

In this session, we explore the challenges of “scaling up” from test bed and living lab settings or transferring their results to other settings. Bringing together perspectives from engineering research, social science, companies, and policy, we will discuss how test beds and living labs need to straddle the competing needs to tie R&D to concrete social challenges and contexts while also achieving generalizability.
Co-creating good challenges: Matching social needs to robots
